  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • small handful mint leaves, plus extra sprig to serve
  • 60ml white rum
  • soda water, to taste

How to make a mojito

  1. In a small container, muddle the lime juice, sugar, and mint leaves, crushing the mint leaves as you go – you can do this with the end of a rolling pin. Add a handful of ice to a large glass and serve.
  2. Pour the rum over the top and whisk with a long-handled spoon. Serve with a splash of soda water and a sprig of mint on top.

If you like a cocktail that packs a punch and is easy to make, then the mojito is for you. This recipe may seem simple but it’s also versatile – use any type of rum you prefer or swap out the mint with fresh fruit such as oranges or strawberries! For those who want something more than just refreshingly good taste, this drink has been shown to help reduce stress levels and improve cardiovascular health.
